right then.
baptiste fell apart for all the stupid, messy, demoralizing, private and clichéd reasons that bring down even the best of 'em in the end.
all i'd like to say now is how proud i am of all we achieved (three singles and one album) without any support from the "official" music press/industry, and without hanging onto the shirttails of any of the various london music scenes. maybe we weren't welcome, but fuck it - i'm most proud of our independence and the fact that we stuck to our ideals, even if it denied us the wider audience i felt we deserved and perhaps even helped to hurry on our demise. i'm just sorry we couldn't have done more, but there you go. rock n roll and all that.
thanks to tony harris for the artwork, and to all the fanzines, websites, promoters, etc. (john, sam, olga et al) who have supported us over the years and to everyone who ever bought a record or attended a gig (especially those kind enough to let us sleep on floors, put us up in spare rooms, supplied us with booze etc). we probably wouldn't even have made it this far without you. thanks also to tom rixton for the great work he put into our album, helping us realize a life-long ambition. and a special thanks to our (long suffering) manager anthony. we definitely wouldn't have made it this far without you. cheers.
maybe we could've done things differently, but we didn't and that's that. i could go on (and on and on) but I'll stop here.
Great Lost Band, anyone?
best wishes
